Installing French Drains

Step 1. From the lowest point of the area of the flooding area, you want to dig down to where the top of the catch basin is even with the top of the soil.

Step 2. The drainage ditch should be dug approximately 18” wide and slope downward at 1” per every 12 feet. This will give a gradual flow of water through the pipe without causing erosion from fast moving water. You ...
